Tokyo Halloween works when you choose the event before you choose the neighborhood. The three confirmed options below do not offer the same night: one is a city-scale cosplay gathering, one is a theme-park season, and one is an adults-only music party that runs until morning.

Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival: the city-scale cosplay choice

Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival 2026 is scheduled for Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1 in the Ikebukuro area. The official program separates the formats: the Friday-night event is planned for 4:30 pm–10:30 pm at Sunshine City, is for people aged 18 and over, and excludes high-school students. The main daytime festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1 from 10:00 am–6:00 pm.

Choose Ikebukuro when cosplay, photography, and being among people who came for the same culture are the point of the day. It is the clearest match for an anime- or manga-focused trip and the least useful choice for someone who only wants a casual night in costume without a planned event format.

The official site announced that tickets are scheduled to go on sale on September 4, 2026. Check the event’s live ticket page for participation categories, changing arrangements, photo rules, and the exact locations before you buy or bring a costume.

Disney Halloween: the planned theme-park day

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will hold Disney Halloween from September 16 through October 31, 2026. This is the best option when a full theme-park day is the plan: tickets, parades, food, and the Halloween atmosphere all belong to the same controlled setting.

Costumes need more care here than a Halloween-themed outfit. The resort says that full Disney-character costumes are allowed from September 15–30 and October 16–31, while guests are asked not to visit in full costume from October 1–15. The resort also says that changing and makeup should not be done in park or public-facility restrooms and lockers. Check the current costume guidance before choosing a date or packing a full outfit.

Choose Disney for families, travelers with a fixed park day, or fans who want the Halloween theme without needing to navigate a public-street event. It is not the right replacement for Ikebukuro if the purpose is cosplay photography with a city-wide community.

SPOOKY PUMPKIN at Sanrio Puroland: an adults-only night

SPOOKY PUMPKIN 2026 ~PURO ALL NIGHT HALLOWEEN PARTY~ is scheduled for Saturday, October 31. The official page lists doors at 9:30 pm, a 10:00 pm start, and a 5:00 am close. Entry is strictly limited to people aged 20 or over, with photo ID checked from 9:00 pm. This is a nighttime music event, not the normal character-park visit.

As of August 30, 2026, the official page lists advance tickets at ¥13,800 and door tickets at ¥14,800. The second advance lottery runs August 26–September 23, and general sales are scheduled for October 3. Check the live official page for the ticket category, artists, entry conditions, and current availability before making travel or costume plans.

Choose this event if you are 20 or older and want a curated all-night party. Do not choose it because you want a standard Hello Kitty or family day: that is a different Puroland product with different hours and access.

Viator lists a standard Sanrio Puroland Advance Passport Ticket for eligible foreign visitors and residents. It can fit a regular daytime Puroland visit, but it is not a ticket for SPOOKY PUMPKIN. Read the product’s eligibility and live terms before booking.

Roppongi Art Night: a grown-up Tokyo night with a different center

Roppongi Art Night 2026 is scheduled from 5:00 pm on Saturday, October 31 to 6:00 am on Sunday, November 1. The official program announces more than 60 art programs across Roppongi, with the Mori Art Museum and Tokyo City View planned to remain open all night. This is not a Halloween party, and it should not be described as one. It is a city-scale art night that happens to give an October 31 evening a strong, adult alternative to a public-street crowd.

Choose Roppongi when the night should begin with art, installations, and a city that changes after dark, then continue to dinner, bars, or clubs only if you want the night to keep moving. That structure is the difference: the art is a real first stop, not decoration around a club plan. It suits travelers who want something more intentional than news-camera crowds, without making the evening family- or cosplay-centered.

The natural next step is Roppongi nightlife, where a hosted pub crawl and club finish are one available format. Keep the two parts separate in your plan: check the live Art Night program and venue hours first, then choose a bar or club route that begins after the art event you actually want to see.

What not to expect in Shibuya

Do not treat Shibuya as an officially announced 2026 Halloween street event. As of August 30, 2026, we could not confirm a 2026 Shibuya City announcement for Halloween-period traffic restrictions, public-safety measures, or a city-supported street program.

That does not mean no guidance will be issued. Shibuya City used traffic restrictions and Hachiko-area safety measures during the 2025 Halloween period, but those were specific to 2025. They are not a 2026 schedule and should not be copied into a 2026 itinerary. We will update this page when Shibuya City or the Metropolitan Police publish 2026 guidance.

If Shibuya is on your trip, visit it for its Crossing, fashion and music streets, food, and booked nightlife on an ordinary date. Use the Shibuya guide for that plan. For October 31, choose one of the official formats above rather than relying on an old viral image of the street. For an adult late-night plan with a defined cultural first stop, Roppongi Art Night is the clearer choice.
