Choose this when dinner should feel rooted in Shinjuku. The company traces its beginning here to 1924, while the annex publishes set meals with shrimp, seafood, vegetables and kakiage as well as a chef-selected tempura course.

Rokkasen Shinjuku 1st store
Choose this when the table should feel abundant. Rokkasen's official menus put Kobe beef, Matsusaka beef and Japanese black beef at the center, making it the group celebration rather than another quiet counter meal.

Pick Tsunahachi when seeing the counter craft matters. Pick Rokkasen when several people want meat and a celebratory table. Keep Tsurutontan for the night that runs past a normal dinner hour.
Choose New York Grill when this meal is the occasion itself. Choose Fuunji when you would happily trade reservations and lingering for one focused bowl. Choose Sushi Tokyo Ten when station access makes omakase easier to fit into the day.
The geography helps too. Tsunahachi is on the east side near Shinjuku-sanchome, Rokkasen and Fuunji are on the west side, Tsurutontan is in Kabukicho, New York Grill is farther west in Nishi-Shinjuku, and Sushi Tokyo Ten is inside NEWoMan by the station. Do not cross the station twice for a category you could have chosen on the side where your evening already is.
